1st Blog Ever!! My Teaching Philosophy

Teachers teach to help students learn. As an educator, we know that we don’t just teach our students the content. A goal I have as an educator is to implement the 21st century skills into everyday class by the use of technology and other in class work. The 21st century skills are being implemented into all classrooms. This means that elementary students should be getting taught the 4 C’s, also known as the 21st century skills as well. The 21st century skills include, communication, collaboration, creativity and critical thinking. My goal as an elementary teacher I want to incorporate all of the 4 C’s into my lessons. These skills are not only needed within the classroom, but outside the classroom as well. I believe that including creativity, collaboration, communication and critical thinking can be done every single day within the 8 hours of a students school day.
In my classroom I will use technology in many different ways. I want to include:
- iPads for students to video themselves presenting different things we do in the classroom
- Classroom DoJo
- google classroom
- Symbaloo
I will create a symbaloo for my students to get on to do different math, reading, writing, science or social studies websites or apps for my students. I have seen this done in my practicums and it works really well for students to get onto these apps or websites at home if they would like to also.
